This is an exciting time to be part of our growing softball program!
I'm writing to tell you about some changes we've made to the softball program for this upcoming spring.
For the past several years, our league has focused on play within our league only. Recently we've begun playing more games outside our league, both in tournament play and the fall, and we've learned a lot about what we need to do to be more competitive. Primarily, that involves having the girls play at the appropriate levels, those by which other area teams are playing.
The league age cutoff date of December 31 will fall in line with Little League rules, however if a player is playing at a higher level than her friends and would like to continue to play with her classmates, she may opt to play down. Conversely, if a player wants to play up, a special request can be made by contacting email@example.com
In addition to realigning the divisions, girls at the minors level will be placed on teams through a draft. This falls in line with how team placement is handled at the majors level, as well as in baseball, starting at age 7.
In other good news, DSLL is looking forward to another session of winter softball clinics beginning in January. Last year was the first time these clinics were offered and we had such a great turnout we've added time and space to accommodate the girls this winter.

Thank you for your participation and we are looking forward to a really great year of softball in 2015!
Spring 2015 Registration Is Open! January 18 Deadline!
Spring 2015 Registration For Baseball & Softball
We are excited about indoor space we have beginning in early March to start the season with warm-ups, clinics, and practices. In order to plan for March activities, it is necessary to have a firm registration close date of January 18. Registrations after January 18 will be permitted if spots are available and they will be subject to a late fee.
Please note for Baseball, Little League International has changed the League Age determination date to December 31 beginning in Spring 2018. To be proactive, our local league will permit a choice in play for those affected (birthdates between May 1 and December 31 in 2005 and later years). Please review this document for detailed information - http://files.LeagueAthletics.com/Images/Club/9167/Change.pdf or contact
Please note for Softball, groupings are by League Age and not grade, although some playing down is permitted to align with grades.
In person registration for new players is required and will be held Saturday, January 10 and Saturday, January 17 from 8am to Noon at the Valley Forge Middle School Library. Proof of age and residency is required for new players at all levels.
